Biological Description

Alternative Names Alginic Acid Antibody, Algin Antibody, Sodium Alginate Antibody
Research Areas Cell Signaling, Post-translational Modifications
Scientific Background Sodium alginate is used in biological experiments for the immobilization of cells and encapsulation due to its biocompatibility and simple gelation with divalent cations such as Ca2+. Studies suggest that preparation of alginate microspheres will sustain protein delivery within tissue scaffolds (1), as well as in many other cell types (2).
