Scientific Background The Slo1/BK Alpha maxi-K+ channel protein is predominantly found in neurons and smooth muscle, is regulated by both calcium concentrations and voltage, and is a homolog to the pH and voltage-regulated Slo3 (1,2). Slo1/BK has been shown to facilitate the repolarization phase of action potentials and modulate neurotransmitter release (3,4). Dysregulation of Slo1 channels has been linked to several disorders such as hypertension, epilepsy, ataxia (2) and muscle dystrophy (5). Our anti-slo1/BK Alpha maxi-K+ channel antibody can be used to detect the presence of this protein in various tissues.
