Scientific Background | Camostat mesylate is an orally active protease inhibitor. It inhibits the serine protease TMPRSS2 and partially blocks entry of SARS-Cov-2 (Covid-19) into lung cells and Human coronavirus NL63 into HeLa cells. It has also been used in some cancer treatments, against viral infections, and for inhibiting fibrosis in liver, kidney disease and pancreatitis. |
