Scientific Background | SC 79 is an activator of Akt (protein kinase B). Specifically, it has been shown to bind the plecktrin homology (PH) domain of Akt. This mimics the binding of Phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphates, which induces a conformational change in Akt, that enhances phosphorylation and activation. |
